In October 2005, Arts Council England launched a new arts award for young people. "The Arts Award is the first accredited award scheme to recognise young people's development through the arts. Young people grow as young artists and young arts leaders by setting their own starting points and challenges." Arts Council England www.artscouncil.org.uk

The Arts Award is a national qualification open to young people aged between 11-25, at levels 1, 2 and 3 on the national qualifications framework.

The West Suffolk Arts Centre (WSAC) is able to offer the award at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels to schools, groups and individuals.

Bronze Arts Award courses may be completed in weekly (1hr), fortnightly (2hr) or intensive week-long (5-day) sessions.*

Silver and Gold Arts Award courses are available in weekly (1hr) or fortnightly (2hr) sessions.**

The West Suffolk Arts Centre specialises in running Arts Award sessions for home educated young people. We currently have weekday sessions running at Lopham (Norfolk), Chelmsford (Essex) and Cambridge (Cambridgeshire) and Bury St Edmunds (Suffolk) where we are pleased to be working in partnership with the Smiths Row art gallery.
