WSAC YOUNG ARTISTS with Arts Award

WSAC currently offers learning opportunities in the arts across East Anglia through its Young Artists scheme (suitable for ages 8-25) with optional Trinity Guildhall Arts Award accredited qualifications at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels (currently 11+yrs).

Combining both group and one-to-one mentoring, group and solo exhibitions of work, and field trips to local, regional and national events, festivals and galleries, the scheme encourages young people to develop their creativity and participate in 'real' arts experiences.

In October 2005, Arts Council England launched a new arts award for young people. "The Arts Award is the first accredited award scheme to recognise young people's development through the arts. Young people grow as young artists and young arts leaders by setting their own starting points and challenges." Arts Council England

The Arts Award is a national qualification open to young people aged between 11-25, at levels 1, 2 and 3 on the national qualifications framework, with Discover and Explore, two new levels of the award for age 7 upwards, launching in 2012.

The West Suffolk Arts Centre (WSAC) is able to offer the award at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels to schools, groups and individuals.

Bronze Arts Award courses may be completed in weekly (1hr), fortnightly (2hr) or intensive week-long (5-day) sessions.*

Silver and Gold Arts Award courses are available in weekly (1hr) or fortnightly (2hr) sessions.**
